Founded with a passion for authentic Japanese flavours, Hanaichi has been serving high-quality Japanese cuisine since 1987. From our humble beginnings to becoming a well-loved name in Australia, we have stayed true to our mission – bringing Japanese fine food to our customers. Hanaichi is proudly owned and led by a highly qualified, multi-award-winning Japanese chef, whose expertise and dedication continue to shape every dish we serve.

OUR HISTORY

How it all started

Hanaichi began its remarkable journey in August 1987 with the opening of its first restaurant in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, Queensland. 
In 1993, this well-loved store was honoured with the Courier Mail Good Food Award, making Hanaichi the first Japanese restaurant in Queensland to receive this distinguished honour. 
Continuing this momentum, Hanaichi launched a new location between 2005 and 2006, which proudly received The Queensland Restaurant and Catering Casual Dining Award two years in a row.
In April 2009, we expanded beyond Queensland, opening our first store in Melbourne, followed by an opening in Canberra in October 2013.
